Riceville, Iowa – The push to recycle is alive and well in north Iowa as the FMC Landfill will now no longer be accepting all cardboard. The landfill recently changed their policy on this.
David Pitz, FMC Landfill operator, says that one of the main reasons the landfill is changing this policy is because cardboard is a product that can be easily recycled.
Turning cardboard over to the landfill could also do some damage to your wallet. Fines could occur if people choose to violate this new rule.
Pitz says that this is an attempt to get people to recycle more.
The FMC Landfill will still accept cardboard, but it has to come from recycling.
