FMC Landfill is temporarily closed today due to small fire

Elma, Iowa – A small fire was reported at the FMC Landfill near Elma on Tuesday morning.

Riceville Fire responded to extinguish the blaze. It’s not known at this time how the fire started.

A post on the FMC Landfill Facebook page says the landfill will be temporarily closed today to make sure conditions continue to be controlled. They also say that area of the landfill where the fire began will continue to be closed for the next several days for safety reasons.
