Another early spring snow storm to impact area through tonight

Charles City, Iowa – Another early spring snow storm is expected to drop 1 to as much as 8 inches of snow across the area through tonight.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning which will continue through early Wednesday for Cerro Gordo, Floyd, Howard, Mitchell, Winneshiek and Worth Counties. A Winter Weather Advisory continues through early Wednesday for Bremer, Butler, Chickasaw, Fayette and Franklin Counties.

According to the latest weather statement, snow will develop across north Iowa through early this morning and continue throughout the day. The snow could be heavy at times with visibilities reduced to a half mile or less at times. Further south, a wintry mix of snow, sleet or freezing rain is expected.

Total snowfall amounts will range from 6 to 8 inches near the Iowa/Minnesota border with 2 to 4 inches along the Highway 20 corridor.
