Final Comet Café of this school year to be served on Friday at Fairgrounds

Charles City, Iowa – The final Comet Café of the year will be held on Friday, April 13th at the Gil and Donna White Charles City FFA Enrichment Center on the Floyd County Fairgrounds.

Students from the Charles City High School plan, prepare, cook and serve the meals, which are generally held as a luncheon at the high school.

The experience has led many students to think about a future in food science.

Madelyn Tjaden, a junior at Charles City High School, is one such student.

Tjaden said that she and the other members of the Comet Café class are very excited about preparing and serving the signature dinner, which will showcase the work of the class.

Tjaden  says the entire experience of being a Comet Café student has been great.

Tjaden said the class is hopeful those attending Friday’s dinner at the Youth Enrichment Center will make the community appreciate the time and effort it takes to put together a great meal for everyone to enjoy.

Friday night’s menu will include a choice of Beef Medallions with Mushroom Sauce or Salmon Oscar, which is salmon on a bed of asparagus with lemon-dill sauce, the Comet Café Signature Salad, and Chocolate Raspberry Tart.

The evening meal will be served from 5-7 p.m. and reservations can be made on the school website,

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
