KCHA Sports Report (4/12)

We begin today’s report with a look at the Iowa State Cyclone football team as they continue with their spring drills.  Iowa State defensive coordinator Jon Heacock(hay-cock) says the expectations have been on the rise this spring. The Cyclone defense made big strides in an 8-5 season that included a win over Memphis in the Liberty Bowl.

But Heacock says higher expectation don’t mean added pressure.

Heacock says while there are some holes to fill he has been pleased with the effort.

The graduation of middle linebacker Joel Lanning means new leaders must emerge on defense.

The Cyclones close out spring drills with a scrimmage on Saturday.

The son of Iowa basketball coach Fran McCaffery has been awarded a scholarship for next year. Todd Kimm reports.
