Charles City Schools Last Day Now A Full Day; Prom King/Queen Candidates Announced

Charles City, Iowa – As the school year winds down, students and staff of the Charles City School District were hoping to be able to stick to the regular school calendar without having to make up any snow days. The as almost accomplished, but Mother Nature had different ideas. However, pending any more weather-related events, the last day of school will be a full day and not a half-day, so it’s not as bad as it could be.

That’s Charles City Schools Superintendent Dr. Dan Cox who said if there are any more snow days, students will have to return the day after Memorial Day to make up any days lost due to weather.

High school students do have a fun week to look forward to next week, as juniors and seniors will get all decked out for the Charles City prom. Dr. Cox announced the king and queen candidates for the 2018 Prom Court, slated for Saturday, April 21st. “A Night of A Thousand Lights” is this year’s theme, being planned by the junior class.

Door open for the grand march at Comet Gymnasium beginning at 6:30 p.m., with line-up for students at 7:00 p.m., admission is just $1.00, which helps off-set prom expenses. Grand march will begin at 7:30 p.m. and the dance will start at 8:00 p.m.

All school-related information can be found on the district website,
