Clayton County man going to prison for attempted bank robbery

Monona, Iowa – A young man was sentenced Monday to three years in prison for a failed bank robbery in Monona.

Twenty-one-year-old Tyler Koehler of Monona pleaded guilty last November to attempted bank robbery. Police say Koehler went to the drive-up window of the Freedom Bank in Monona on June 9, 2017 and delivered notes to the teller threatening to “blow up” the building unless he was given cash.

Officers were called, and they arrested Koehler at the bank.
