The 2018 Iowa High School girls and boys State Track meet begins today at the Blue Oval in Des Moines. There are several athletes from around our area competing. For Charles City, Sydney Loeckle will throw the discus today starting around 2pm, the Comet girls 4×800 meter relay team will run their final at around 5:30 this evening, the Charles City girls shuttle hurdle relay team will run their preliminary race tonight at approximately 8pm. On the boys side for Charles City, Gavin Connell will run in the 3200 meter final today at around 4pm. Sadie Ruzicka will run the 100 meter hurdles preliminary race for Charles City tomorrow and her teammate Kiki Connell will run in the 1500 meter finals on Saturday.
Nashua-Plainfield’s girls and boys 4×800 relay teams will run today in the Class 1A Finals. The girls will run at 11:20 and the boys will compete at 12:10. The Huskies will have their girls Distance Medley Relay team will run in the Finals tomorrow at 9am, the Nashua boys will run in the Sprint Medley Finals on Saturday at 9:50 and Nashua’s Dayton Hanson will run in the boys 1600 meter final on Saturday at 2:15.
The Osage Green Devil State qualifiers will run in the Class 2A State Meet this week. The Osage boys shuttle hurdle relay team will have their preliminary race today at 2:40, Mia Knudsen will run in the 3000 meter final today at 3:30, Paige Kisley will run her 100 meter hurdle preliminary tomorrow at 3:40, the Green Devil girls 4×100 meter relay preliminary will be tomorrow at 6:20 and their 4X400 preliminary will be at 7:00, and then their Sprint Medley Final will be on Saturday at 9:15.
North Butler’s Morgan Arjes will run her 400 meter preliminary today at 1:20. Nicole Heeren will throw the discus tomorrow at 9am for the Bearcats and her teammate Mady Klingenborg will run the 800 finals on Saturday at 10:30.
The Saint Ansgar girls and boys have several events at the State Meet. For the girls, Grace Heimer will get things started in the shot put today at 9am, Addy Carlson will run in the 3000 meter finals today at 9:40 am and then in the 1500 meter finals on Saturday at 2:45, the Saints 4×800 meter relay team will run their final today at 11:20, Taylor Hanna will run her 400 meter preliminary today at 1:20, the Saints will have their Distance Medley team run at 9am tomorrow, their 4×100 meter relay team will run the preliminary at 12:40 tomorrow and their 4×400 preliminary tomorrow at 1:20, and finally their Sprint Medley team will run at 9am on Saturday. For the boys, Ethan Kirchgatter gets things started in the 200 meter preliminaries at 11am, and then participate in the high jump tomorrow at 9am, Theo Baldus will throw the shot put today at 11:30 and the discus tomorrow at 11:30, Sylar Blunt will run the 400 meter preliminary at 1:40 today, Collin Kramer will have his 110 meter hurdle preliminary tomorrow at 9:40, the Saints 4×400 meter relay preliminary will be at 2pm tomorrow, and Seth Hershey will run the 800 meter final on Saturday at 11:10 and the 1600 meter final on Saturday at 2:15.
