The Charles City Comet softball team had their home opener last night as they were in a non-conference game against North Butler.  For the second game in a row, the Comets applied the mercy rule to their opponent as they defeated the Bearcats 11-1 in five innings.  Tayler Schmidt had a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to put Charles City ahead 2-1 and the girls never looked back.  The Comets are now 2-0 to start the season and they will play again tomorrow night.  It will be a Northeast Iowa Conference double-header at home against Crestwood.  The North Butler softball team will play at home tonight against Osage in a Top of Iowa Conference game.

The Saint Ansgar Saints softball team opened up their season last night at home against Oelwein.  The Saints scored two runs in the third and six run in the fourth inning and were able to hang on and win 8-6.  The Saint Ansgar softball team begins their season at 1-0 and they will open-up conference play tonight at home against West Fork.

The Charles City Comet baseball team will be back in action tonight as they will host Mason City in non-conference play.  The Comets are 0-1 this year and will be looking to pick up that first win against a Mason City team with a rich tradition and has started the season with a 1-1 record.  You can tune into this game right here on KCHA tonight starting with a pre-game at 6:45 and first pitch is scheduled for 7pm.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky baseball and softball teams will be at home tonight for JV/Varsity double-headers against West Hancock.  This will be the first game for the Husky baseball team while West Hancock comes in at 1-0.  This is also the first game for the Nashua softball team and West Hancock is 0-1.  Both Varsity contests are scheduled to start at 6pm.

The North Butler Bearcat baseball team will host Osage tonight in Top of Iowa Conference action.  First pitch for this game is scheduled to be at 7:30.

The Rockford Warrior baseball and softball teams will be at home tonight for contests against Lake Mills.  The Warrior boys open up with the first game tonight while Lake Mills baseball is 1-0.  It is also the first game for the Rockford softball team while Lake Mills softball is 0-1.  The softball game is set to begin at 6pm and first pitch of the baseball game will be at about 7:30.
