The Charles City Comet baseball team was at home yesterday afternoon for their make-up game with Mason City. The Mohawks scored two runs in the second inning, two in the third and one in the fourth while Charles City got their lone run in the sixth as the Comets went down in defeat 5-1. Carter Johanningmeier was solid on the mound as he pitched five innings, gave up two earned runs and struck out two. Jace Cajthaml had a double and an RBI and Theo Arndt got two hits for the Comet offense. Charles City baseball is now 3-4 overall this season and they will play at home again tonight in non-conference play against Dike-New Hartford. The Osage Green Devil baseball and softball teams will be at home tonight for Top of Iowa Conference cross-over games against Belmond-Klemme. The Green Devil baseball team is 3-6 overall this season while Belmond is 2-6. The Osage softball team comes in tonight at 3-9 and Belmond softball is 4-8. The Varsity softball game is scheduled to start at 6pm and first pitch of the baseball game will be at about 7pm.
The North Butler Bearcat softball and baseball teams will be on the road tonight for Top of Iowa Conference games at West Fork. The Bearcat softball team is 8-3 overall this season and 4-1 in the conference while the War-Hawk girls are 3-6 and 1-2. The North Butler baseball team is 5-2 overall and 3-1 and West Fork is 5-4 and 1-2. The softball game will get started at 6pm and the baseball game will begin at around 7:30.
The Rockford Warrior softball and baseball teams will be at home tonight for Top of Iowa Conference match-ups with Northwood-Kensett. The Rockford softball team is 6-3 overall this season and 1-1 in TIC games and Northwood softball comes in at 2-6 and 0-4. The Warrior baseball team is 4-5 overall and 1-0 in league play while the Vikings are 4-4 and 3-1. First pitch of the softball game will be at 6pm and first pitch of the baseball game will be at about 7:30.
