In a game heard right here on KCHA last night, the Charles City Comet softball team hosted Decorah in a Northeast Iowa Conference game.  The top-ranked Comets took control of the game early and were able to sustain their lead in route to a 5-1 win.  Liz Fiser led the Comets with three hits and two runs scored and Payton Reams had two runs batted in.  The offense backed another great pitching performance from Sami Heyer who pitched the complete game and finished with nine strikeouts.  The Charles City softball team has now won eleven games in a row and they up their overall mark to 18-1 while their NEIC record moves to 9-0.  They will be in action again tomorrow night at Cresco.

The Charles City Comet baseball team was on the road last night for a Northeast Iowa Conference game against New Hampton.  The Chickasaws took an early lead in the game as they scored the first five runs in the contest.  Charles City would get a run in the fourth inning and the pushed across three runs in the seventh, but it was too much New Hampton offense as the Chickasaws won the game 9-4.  Jace Cajthaml had a two run home run in the seventh against his former team for the bright spot in the Comet offense.  Dylan Salinas also had two hits and an RBI.  The Charles City baseball team is now 5-5 overall this season and they fall to 2-3 in the NEIC.  Their next game will be tomorrow night at home against Waverly-Shell Rock.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky baseball and softball teams had their games at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura postponed last night.  The softball game will be made-up on Thursday and they baseball game will now be played on June 22nd.  The Husky softball team will play tonight at home against New Hampton and the Nashua baseball team’s next game will be on Wednesday at home against Forest City.

The Osage Green Devil softball team was at home last night for a Top of Iowa Conference game against North Iowa.  The Green Devils fell behind 8-3 after two and a half innings, but were able to score six unanswered runs to come from behind and win 8-9.  The Osage softball team is now 5-9 overall this season and they improve to 4-3 in the conference.  They will be in action again tomorrow night at Central Springs.

The North Butler Bearcat baseball team was at home last night for their Top of Iowa Conference match-up with Eagle Grove.  The game ended with the Bearcats on the losing end of an 8-4 score.  Kendrick Miller had a hit and two runs scored for North Butler and Beau Thompson had two runs batted in.  The Bearcat baseball team is now 5-3 overall this season and they fall to 4-3 in the conference.  They will be back in action tomorrow night at North Iowa.

The Rockford Warrior softball team was in Mason City last night for a Top of Iowa Conference game against the Newman Knights.  The game was close throughout, but in the end it was the Knights who earned the 5-2 win.  The Warrior softball team is now 7-4 overall this season and they drop to 4-4 in TIC games.  Next up for them will be a game tonight against Clarion-Goldfield.
