UPDATED: Fire damages Charles City apartment building; no injuries

Charles City, Iowa – A fire damaged a Charles City apartment building early Thursday morning.

The fire was reported late Wednesday night at 407 South Main Street.

That’s Charles City Fire Chief Eric Whipple who said everyone escaped the building unharmed.

Fire crews from Charles City, Floyd and Colwell helped battled the blaze into the early morning hours of Thursday.

Floyd County Records indicate that the building owned by Steve and Lori Litterer.

No cause has yet been determined and the investigation continues.

Agencies assisting at the scene included firefighters from Charles City, Floyd and Colwell, AMR Ambulance, the Charles City Police Department and MidAmerican Energy.
