KCHA Sports Report (6/14)

In a couple of games heard right here on KCHA last night, the Charles City Comet baseball team was in Waverly for a home Northeast Iowa Conference double-header.  In the first game, the Comets were led by Theo Arndt who pitched the complete game, gave up one run on four hits and struck out five as the Comets won it 5-1.  Jace Cajthaml and Cole Reams each had two hits for Charles City in the win.  In game number two, the Comet offense could not figure out Waverly pitcher Kurby Vowel who threw six inning and gave up no earned runs as they defeated the Comets 7-1.  Theo and Tait Arndt each had a pair of hits in the game and Theo drove in the only Comet run.  The Charles City baseball team is now 6-6 overall this season and 3-4 in the NEIC.  They will have their next game tonight at Turkey Valley.

The Charles City Comet softball team was in Cresco last night for their Top of Iowa Conference game against the Crestwood Cadets.  The top-ranked Comets were able to win their eleventh game in a row and were able to stay perfect in conference games as they beat the Cadets 6-2.  The Charles City softball team is now 19-1 overall this season and they improve to 10-0 in the NEIC.  They will be in action again tonight as they will play a conference game in Waverly.  You can tune into the game right here on KCHA starting with a pre-game at 6:45 and first pitch is scheduled for 7pm.

The Nashua-Plainfield baseball team played Forest City last night at home in a Top of Iowa Conference game.  Mason Hyde led the Huskies to a 4-3 victory as he went 2-3 with a double and two RBI at the plate and also pitched six and two thirds innings and gave up one earned run and struck out 12.  Tanner Haut and Michael Stille each had two hits in the game as well.  The Nashua baseball team is now 4-9 overall this season and they improve to 4-5 in the conference.  They will be at home again tonight against Janesville.

The Osage Green Devil softball team was in Manly last night for a Top of Iowa Conference game against Central Springs.  The Green Devils went down in defeat 14-2 in three innings.  The Osage softball team is now 5-10 overall this season and they are 4-5 in conference play.  Their next game will be tonight at home against Waukon.

The North Butler Bearcat baseball team was on the road last night for their Top of Iowa Conference match-up with North Iowa.  Beau Thompson pitched six and two thirds innings with eight strikeouts to lead the Bearcats to an 8-3 victory.  Eight of the nine starters had a hit for the North Butler offense as they improve to 6-3 overall and 5-3 in the conference.  The will be in action again tonight at Central Springs.

The Rockford Warrior softball team hosted Garner-Hayfield-Ventura last night in Top of Iowa Conference action.  The Warriors were able to apply the mercy rule as they defeated the Cardinals 16-6.  The Warrior softball team is now 9-4 overall this season and they improve to 6-4 in league play.  They will play again tomorrow night at home against Forest City.
