In a game heard right here on KCHA last night, the Charles City Comet softball team was at home for a Northeast Iowa Conference game against Waukon.  The Comets were able to get the bats going early and Sami Heyer pitched a no-hitter in route to a 12-0 win in three innings.  Charles City had nine hits total including back-to-back home runs by Ciana Sonberg and Tayler Schmidt in the third inning which ended the game.  The Comet softball team improves to 23-2 overall this season and they move their conference record to 11-1.  They will play again tonight in a non-conference road match-up with Saint Ansgar.

The Charles City Comet baseball team went all the way to Oelwein last night only to be sent home early due to lightning.  The Northeast Iowa Conference game was suspended in the second inning with the Comets trailing 1-0.  They will complete the game in Oelwein next Monday.  Charles City baseball will next be in action tomorrow night when they host Decorah in an NEIC double-header.

The Osage Green Devil baseball team hosted Nashua-Plainfield last night in a Top of Iowa Conference contest.  The Green Devils scored three runs in the fourth inning which were the only runs in the game as it ended with Osage winning 3-0.  Nathan Buskbaum had the big hit for the Green Devils which was a two-run single and Gavin Schaeffer picked up the win throwing six and two thirds innings with nine strikeouts.  The Osage baseball team improves to 4-9 overall and 3-5 in the conference while the Huskies fall to 5-11 and 3-7.  The Green Devils will play again tonight at home against Belmond-Klemme and Nashua will be in action tonight at Central Springs.

The North Butler Bearcat baseball team was in Algona last night for a Top of Iowa Conference tilt against Bishop Garrigan.  The Bearcat offense was stifled as they only had two hits, both by Levi Lubben, as they were shut out 6-0.  Beau Thompson was the losing pitcher as he threw the complete game, gave up two earned runs and struck out seven.  The North Butler baseball team is now 7-6 overall and 6-5 in the conference.  Their next game will be at home tomorrow night against Northwood-Kensett.

The North Butler Bearcat softball team was also at Algona Bishop Garrigan last night for their Top of Iowa Conference match-up.  The Bearcats were able to hold on for a close 2-1 win to improve to 13-9 overall and 9-2 in the conference.  They will be back in action tomorrow night at home against Northwood-Kensett.
