The Charles City Comet softball team was in Saint Ansgar last night for a non-conference game against the Saints.  The Comets jumped on them early with four runs in the first and four more in the second inning and then cruised to a 11-1 win in five innings.  Ciana Sonberg had the big bat for the Comets last night as she hit three home runs and drove in five runs.  Ashlyn Hoeft also had a home run last night as Charles City pounded out 16 hits in all.  Tayler Schmidt was the winning pitcher as she gave up the one run on four hits and struck out three.  The Comet softball team improves to 24-2 overall this season and they will be in non-conference action again tonight at home against Central Springs.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky softball team was in Manly last night for their Top of Iowa Conference game against Central Springs.  The Huskies had just one hit in the game and were beaten 10-0 in five innings.  The Nashua softball team falls to 7-13 overall and 4-8 in the conference.  They will have their next game tomorrow night at home against Saint Ansgar.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky baseball team also took on Central Springs on the road in Top of Iowa Conference play.  Mason Hyde pitched the complete game shutout and also had a double, an RBI and a run scored to lead the Huskies to a 2-0 victory.  The Nashua baseball team is now 6-11 overall and 4-7 in league play.  They will play at home tomorrow night against Saint Ansgar.

The Osage Green Devil baseball team was at home last night for a Top of Iowa Conference game against Belmond-Klemme.  The Green Devils were able to win via the mercy rule 10-0 in five innings.  The Osage offense drew 12 walks and got two hits and two runs scored from Isaac Oberfell and Zach Williams had two runs batted in.  Oberfell also got the win on the mound as he threw all five innings, gave up one hit and struck out seven.  The Green Devil baseball team is now 5-9 overall and 4-5 in conference action.  They will play again tomorrow night at Rockford.

The Charles City Comet baseball team will be at home tonight for a Northeast Iowa Conference double-header against Decorah.  The Comets come in at 9-6 overall and they are 6-4 in the NEIC while the Vikings are 12-3 and 8-2.  You can tune into both games right here on KCHA starting with a pre-game at 4:45 and first pitch of the first game will be at 5pm.
