In a game heard right here on KCHA last night, the Charles City Comet baseball team was in a Northeast Iowa Conference match-up with Decorah.  The Comet pitching staff had a tough time cooling the Viking bats as they scored 17 runs on 17 hits and went on to beat Charles City 17-9.  Colton Slinger and Dylan Salinas each had two hits for the Comets and Cole Reams had a two run home run to lead the Comet offense.  The second game was postponed because of the rain and no make-up date has yet been announced.  The Charles City baseball team is now 9-7 overall and 6-5 in the NEIC.  They are scheduled to play again tonight in Osage.

The Rockford Warrior baseball team was at home last night against Osage in Top of Iowa Conference action.  Osage scored three runs in the second inning and held on to win the game 3-1.  The Osage baseball team improves to 6-9 overall and 5-5 in the conference while the Warrior baseball team falls to 7-10 and 3-7.   Osage baseball will host Charles City and Rockford will head to Clarksville tonight for non-conference games.

The Rockford Warrior softball team also hosted Osage last night in Top of Iowa Conference play.  Osage scored a run in the first inning to take an early lead, but the Warriors scored a run in each of the third through sixth innings to come away with the 4-1 win.  Rockford softball improves to 12-5 overall this season and 7-4 in the conference while the Green Devils fall to 9-13 and 6-5.  Rockford will play at Clarksville tonight while Osage will play next tomorrow night at Lake Mills.

The rain also wreaked havoc on the other area baseball and softball games last night.  The Charles City Comet softball game against Central Springs was postponed.  No make-up date has yet been set for this game.  The Comets will be in Northeast Iowa Conference action tonight weather permitting.  They will be at New Hampton for a double-header.  Charles City softball is 24-2 overall and 11-1 in the NEIC while the Chickasaws are 17-6 and 7-4.  You can tune into both games right here on KCHA starting with a pre-game at 5:15 and first pitch of the first game will be at 5:30.

Other local games on the schedule tonight include the Nashua-Plainfield Husky softball and baseball teams who will be at home for Top of Iowa Conference games against Saint Ansgar.  Nashua softball is 7-13 overall this season and 4-8 in conference games while the Saint softball team is 10-11 and 7-5 in the conference.  The Husky baseball team is 6-11 overall and 4-7 in the conference while the Saint Ansgar baseball team is 11-6 and 7-4 in the conference.  Both games will get started at 6pm.
