St. Ansgar Man Charged With Stealing Trade Secrets And Lying

St. Ansgar, Iowa – 55-year-old Josh Harry Isler of St. Ansgar has been charged with stealing trade secrets and lying to the FBI. The charges were filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids. He’s facing one count of trade secret theft and one count of making a false statement to the FBI.

Authorities say Isler stole trade secrets from DuPont while working there in August 2013 after accepting an offer of employment with a competitor. Federal investigators say Isler transferred hundreds of DuPont’s electronic files to an external storage device, kept the files when he went to his new job, and gave some of them to his new employer.

The FBI says Isler lied about his actions when he was interviewed in November 2013.

If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison and a $500,000 fine and may have to pay restitution to DuPont.
