KCHA Sports Report (7/6)

In a game heard right here on KCHA last night, the Charles City Comet baseball team was in Saint Ansgar for a non-conference home game against the Saints.  For a wrap-up of last night’s game we go to KCHA Sports Director Kellan Heavican who had the call.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky baseball team hosted Clarksville last night for a non-conference game against the Indians.  The Huskies used a five run fifth inning to help catapult them to a 10-3 victory in their final game of the regular season.  The Nashua baseball team finishes up their 2018 regular season with an overall record of 12-14 and they will play in the Class 1A District 5 Quarter-Finals on Tuesday night against BCLUW in Reinbeck.

The Osage Green Devil baseball team was in West Union last night to conclude their regular season with a non-conference double-header against North Fayette Valley.  The Green Devils were defeated in both games as they dropped the first one 10-0 in five innings and then lost the second game 13-5.  The Osage baseball team ends their regular season with a record of 10-14 and they now shift their attention to the postseason.  They will play at Waukon tomorrow night in a Class 2A District 5 Quarter-Final.

The North Butler Bearcat baseball team also had their last regular season game last night as they hosted Hampton-Dumont.  The Bearcats scored seven runs in the fourth inning and were able to win easily 13-4.  Kendrick Miller had three runs batted in to lead North Butler and Jared Feldman had two hits and an RBI.  The Bearcats went 10-9 during the regular season and they will begin postseason play on Tuesday night with a Class 1A District 5 Quarter-Final against AGWSR.

One other game of note last night was a Class 4A Region 8 Quarter-Final softball game between Mason City and Waterloo East.  The Mohawks defeated Waterloo East 10-3 and that is who the Comet softball team will face in the Regional Semi-Finals tomorrow night.  The Comets will come into the game with a record of 31-5 while Mason City is 11-22.  We’ll have that game for you right here on KCHA starting with a pre-game at 6:45 and first pitch will be at 7pm.

Other postseason softball games in the area tonight include the Nashua-Plainfield Husky softball team who will be in Manly for a Class 2A Region 5 Semi-Final against Central Springs.  The Husky softball team is 10-16 overall this season while the Panthers are 25-3.  First pitch will be at 7pm.

The North Butler Bearcat softball team will be in Janesville tonight for their Class 1A Region 3 Semi-Final game.  The Bearcats are 20-10 overall this season while the Wildcats enter with a 24-11 overall record.  First pitch for this game will also be at 7pm.
