Sports Report, 7/10

Down to their their final strike of the regular season, all the Comets needed was a little magic.  Colton Slinger’s walk-off two-run double elevated the Comets to their 15th win of the season. Last night on 95.9 KCHA, the Comets won the regular season finale 4-3 over Vinton-Shellsburg.  Slinger had two hits and three RBIs. Wyatt Stevenson added a double and a run scored. Dylan Salinas pitched four innings, giving up two hits but no runs while striking out six batters.  They host Center-Point Urbana Friday night in districts.

The Saint Ansgar softball season has come to its close.  Central Springs sent the Saints packing 15-5 last night in the regional final.  Saint Ansgar finishes the 2018 campaign 21-14.

The fourth-ranked Charles City Comet Softball team hosts Center-Point Urbana tonight in the Class 4A Region 8 Championship.  Charles City defeated Mason City Friday night 2-1 after a walk-off sacrifice bunt. CPU upset Waverly-Shell Rock Friday night in their half of the bracket.  First pitch is at 7pm.  Tonight’s game can be heard on 95.9 KCHA with pregame at 6:45.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
