In a game heard right here on KCHA Friday night the Charles City Comet baseball team was in a Class 3A District 5 Semi-Final against Center Point-Urbana in Waverly.  The Comets fell behind 1-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth, but then the offense came to life with four runs in the fourth and eight runs in the fifth and they went on to win 13-3 in six innings.  Cole Reams and Tait Arndt each had two hits and three runs batted in to lead the Charles City offense and Theo Arndt picked up the win on the mound.  The Comet baseball team improves to 16-11 overall this season and will play tonight in the District Final against Waverly.  Charles City went 1-2 against the Go-Hawks this season as they split a double-header on June 13th and Waverly won in walk-off fashion 9-8 on June 29th.  This game will be played on Hertel Field at Wartburg College and you can tune into the game right here on KCHA starting with a pre-game at 6:45 and first pitch will be at 7pm.

It was a breakthrough victory at the John Deere Classic near the Quad Cities for Michael Kim. Ron Gerrard reports.
