KCHA Sports Report (8/16)

Iowa State running back David Montgomery says an improved offensive line should help boost the rushing game this season. Montgomery amassed more than 1100 yards a year ago but as a team the Cyclones finished near the bottom of the Big 12 in the run game.

Montgomery says the Cyclones have so many weapons on offense that opposing defenses won’t be able to just load up to stop him.

The Cyclones open the season on September first by hosting South Dakota State.

A small senior class hopes to have a big impact on the Iowa football team this season. There are 13 seniors on the roster and Indianola native Keegan Render enters his senior campaign after making the move from guard to center. Render says it hit him that this is his final season during the team picture.

Senior safety Jake Gervase (jir-voss) has a simple goal for his senior season.

Parker Hesse has appeared in 39 games and says his career has gone by quickly.

The Hawkeyes open at home on September first against Northern Illinois.
