Fiery Crash Claims Life Of Nashua Man

Plainfield, Iowa – A Nashua man is dead after a fiery single-vehicle crash Thursday night.

The Bremer County Sheriff’s office says 19-year-old Arthur Penrod died at the scene of the inferno after his car left the roadway, rolled and burst into flames  near the intersection of Highway 218 and C13 near Plainfield.

Just after 11 pm, deputies discovered a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix engulfed in flames in the ditch.  An investigation found Penrod drove the vehicle southbound on Highway 218 when it entered the ditch and hit a cement box culvert.
