The Score Sheet: Comets Beat Rival New Hampton, Osage Upsets St. Ansgar On Last Second TD Throw

Charles City vs New Hampton

The Charles City Comet Football team captured their first win of the season over their rival the New Hampton Chickasaws on Friday.  Erik Hoefer called the game.

Nashua-Plainfield vs Belmond-Klemme

Nashua-Plainfield offense – cold.  The Huskies sputtered 44 yards in offense on Friday night after getting shut-out for the second straight game.  Belmond-Klemme bounced the Huskies 55-0. Junior quarterback Michael Stille threw eight for 16 and 31 years with four interceptions and he led all rushers with 13 yards on 12 attempts. The Huskies travel to Mason City Newman Friday night.

Osage vs St. Asngar

Third-ranked St. Ansgar hosted 0-1 Osage Friday night and the game rested on this play:

After watching their midnight miracle fall short last week, Osage dreams came true.  The Green Devils hung on and won 36-31 over St. Ansgar on the road. Osage quarterback Brett Bobinet threw 19 of 32 and 313 yards three scores and one interception.  Zach williams ate up 228 yards on 27 carries and a pair of touchdowns. Gage Belz led the Osage passing attack with 150 yards on five receptions including two touchdowns, one from 70 yards away.  

St. Ansgar’s quarterback Collin Kramer rushed for 127 yards on 11 caries for three touchdowns including a 48-yard blast. Jack Sievert added 126 yards on the ground off of 29 carries.

North Butler vs Central Springs

Central Springs handed the North Butler Bearcats their first loss of the season 28-21.  Central Springs’s Dylan Kisner completed seven passes for 153 yards and one score. Zach Ryd added 95 yards on the ground with one score.  Dylan Marker collected 63 yards and a score and Azik Hodak scored Friday night.

North Butler hosts Dike-New Hartford Friday.

Rockford vs Kee High

The Rockford Warriors are 2-0 after posting another 70-plus-point performance last Friday.  The Warriors blasted Kee High 70-14. Senior quarterback Jacob Staudt rushed for 273 yards on nine carries – that averages out to 30 yards a carry –  and scored five touchdowns.  Kaden Lyman added 141 yards on eight carries and two scores.

Rockford hosts Don Bosco Friday.

Iowa vs Northern Illinois

The Iowa Hawkeye football team is 1-0 after thumping Northern Illinois 33-7 Saturday afternoon.  Hawkeye Quarterback Nate Stanley completed 11 of 23 passing for 108 yards, one turnover and one interception.  Noah Fant caught the lone passing score in the third quarter for the Hawks. Toren Young led the Hawkeye ground game with 84 yards on eight touches for one touchdown.  

Iowa hosts Iowa State State in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Game.

Iowa State vs South Dakota State

The Cyclone’s season opener was cancelled due to weather on Saturday.

Northern Iowa vs Montana 

The Northern Iowa Panthers fell 26-23 to Montana on Saturday.  Panther quarterback Colton Howell completed 11 for 22 and 140 yards with one score.  Howell and Marcus Weymiller both added rushing touchdowns.

Northern Illinois has a week off to prepare for the Iowa Hawkeyes next week.
