The Score Sheet: Comet Volleyball Breaks Streak, Cross Country Takes Top Spot At Mason City

Charles City 3, Crestwood 0

The Charles City Comets picked up straight-set win last night snapping the Crestwood Cadets 4-0 winning streak.  The Comets won 25-22, 25-18 and 25-15. In set two the Comets surrendered a 13-6 lead and led by one at 17-16, but closed the match on a 8-1 run.  


The Comets rolled in set three. The teams combined for 21 service errors, 13 from the Cadets. Jodie Sidlinger collected a team-high seven kills and Danielle Stock added four.  Comets added 11 aces in the match. They improve to 7-13 while the Cadets fall to 9-9. The Comets are at Cedar Falls Friday.

Osage 3, West Fork 0

The Osage Green Devils grabbed their 13th win of the season last night dominating West Fork in three sets: 25-9, 25-7, 25-10.  Sydney Midland led the Green Devils with 11 kills and Dani Johnson and Paige Kisley both contributed 8 to the 39-kill sherrade.  Osage hit a season high .539. The Green Devils host Rockford next Tuesday.

Saint Ansgar 3, Rockford 1

The Rockford Warriors and the Saint Ansgar Saints battled to four-sets last night.  Saint Ansgar won the decisive fourth set 25-22. Kayla Carrol led the Warriors with 14 kills and Jamie Schuster collected five.  The Warriors stuffed the Saints with 17 total blocks. With the win, Saint Ansgar is 6-9, Rockford drops to 9-8.

Cross Country

The Charles City Cross Country teams ran at the Mason City Mowhawk Invitational last night.  The girls team grabbed first place out of six teams. The Comets also featured the top runner Kiki Connell with a time of 20:12.  Whitney Martin finished fourth the Lady Comets at 21:17.

The Boys team finished third out of fourth last night.  Mason Deeter – the top runner for the Comets- placed seventh with a time of 18:21 and Phillip Bachman and Nick Litterer finished 11th and 12th last night.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them.
