City Council Notes: Party In The Park Dates Set, Purchase Of Land And Public Hearings

Charles City, Iowa – At last night’s council meeting, the Charles City Council approved a 25-acre purchase of land with a $415,000 price tag for the city’s wastewater treatment plant project.  The land will be used for construction of an equalization basin and reed beds.

The council approved three public hearings for amendments to three of the four urban renewal areas worth nearly $500,000.

That’s Mayor Dean Andrews who said the Riverside Urban Renewal Area, Southwest Bypass Urban Renewal Area and the Park Avenue Renewal Area were great assets the the community.  The hearings will be on November 26.

Next year’s party in the park dates are set! Here’s Community Revitalization’s Emily Garden:

The council approved a $40,000 forgivable loan for Cambrex who surpassed the city’s standard 0f 32 employees with a base wage of now less than $14.93 from their 2015 expansion project.

And the council approved a resolution setting a meeting to approve a development agreement with Charles City Community Revitalization for annual appropriation tax increment payments for $234,000.

He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
