Charles City Spanish Class Taking Learning To A New Level With Addition Of A Dog

Charles City, Iowa – Charles City High School is putting a man’s best friend into the classroom.

The school’s Spanish teacher Jenae Noonan is piloting the Retrieving Freedom Foster dog program in here spanish class.  While some may wonder what a dog can do for a Spanish class, Noonan says dogs can ease student’s anxiety.

The non-profit program is implemented in nine school districts across the state.  The dogs train to become a service dog for veterans, children with Autism or an individual with diabetes. But Noonan has another idea than having the dog help the students.

Rocky will be in school on Fridays and some Mondays as part of the dog’s training.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
