Prichard Expected To Be Minority Leader For House Democrats

Cedar Rapids, Iowa – A Charles City lawmaker is emerging as a consensus choice of House Democrats to lead the minority party in the 2019 legislative session.

Rep. Todd Prichard is expected to be elected minority leader when the House Democratic caucus meets tomorrow in Des Moines.

Others were considering the leadership post, but by yesterday they were throwing their support to Prichard, 44, who was first elected in a January 2013 special election.

Prichard gained statewide attention earlier this year when he briefly sought the Democratic Party’s gubernatorial nomination.
