Jerry Mead, 73, Charles City

Jerry Mead, 73, of Charles City, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City.

A funeral service for Jerry Mead will be held 10: 30 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Charles City. Pastor Ruth Yeaton will officiate. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery at a later date.

A visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Hauser Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Jerry Lee Mead, the son of Harold and Mildred (Miller) Mead, was born on May 21, 1945. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1963. He was married to Judy Hoy for 40 years. To this union three children were born. The couple later divorced. He most recently shared his life with Char Lubbert.

Jerry worked for Walsh Manufacturing, Embers Corporation, managed a restaurant in Clear Lake, and was a glazier/owner of Charles City Glass. He was a member of the Rotary Club and was a trustee and lifetime member of First Baptist Church. Jerry had a gift for storytelling and was an outdoorsman where he loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed cooking, tinkering with and fixing things, and bird watching. Family and friends were very important to him and he loved to visit his grandchildren.

Living family members include his children: Beau (Ann) Mead of Delhi, Iowa, Tatum Mead of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Brody Mead of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; grandchildren: Alaina, Miles, and Eli; prior wife, Judy Mead; fiancé, Char Lubbert; sister, Beverly Anderson; and nieces: Lori Montgomery and Wendi Rague.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mildred; and brother-in-law, Tom Anderson.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
