Thursday Night’s High School Sports Results

Charles City 70, Aplington-Parkersburg 66

The Charles City Comet Boys basketball team opened their season with a 70-66 win over Aplington-Parkersburg last night.  Jackson Molstead collected a game-high 22 points. The Comets are 1-0 and host 1-0 Algona tomorrow afternoon at 2:30.

Mason City 83, New Hampton 78

The New Hampton boys basketball team opened their season and blew a 13-point fourth quarter cushion over Mason City, losing 83-78..  The Mowhawks outscored the Chickasaws 34-16 in the final quarter. New Hampton hosts Cedar Rapids tomorrow.

The Charles City girls basketball team fell to Aplington-Parkersburg by 40 last night, 65-25.  Offense didn’t come easy to the Comets, only scoring seven first-half points. The Comets host Algona tomorrow at 1.

Comet Wrestling

Comet Wrestling went 2-1 last night at Waterloo Columbus Catholic.  The Comets picked up wins against Columbus Catholic and Dike New Hartford, but fell to Denver.
