Area Teams Hit The Hardwood For First Weekend Of The Season

Girl’s Basketball Results

The New Hampton girls fell to 1-2 after dropping both weekend-contests.  Waukon topped the Chickasaws 43-29 and Jesup won 38-29. New Hampton will travel to Charles City tomorrow.  

The Nashua-Plainfield Huskies picked up their first win over the weekend beating Northwood Kensett 33-25. The Husky defense stymied the Viking offense, holding them to only two points in the third quarter.  The Huskies dropped their Friday matchup to Rockford 53-37. The Huskies are 1-2.

The North Butler Bearcats are 0-2 after a 54-15 blowout loss to Newman Catholic Friday night. The Bearcasts never scored more than five points in a quarter.   

The Rockford Warriors are 1-2 after a 48-27 loss to West fork Friday night.  Rockford fell behind 7-1 after the first period and West Fork never looked back.  Morgan Thieman led the Warriors with 12 points.

The Osage Green Devils remain perfect on the season with a 63-12 blowout over Central Springs.  Rylie Olson scored a game-high 17 points in the win and Dani Johnson and Mia Knudsen each collected 10.

The Riceville Wildcats picked up their first win of the season dumping Don Bosco 39-33 on Friday.  The Wildcat defense clamped down in the fourth quarter holding the Dons to three points. Brynn Hemann led the Wildcats with 10 points.

Boy’s Basketball Results

New Hampton is 0-2 after a 65-58 loss to Cedar Rapids Washington on Saturday.  Dillon Roberson led New Hampton with 15 points and Tristan Sweitzer added 12.

The Nashua-Plainfield Huskies picked up their first win Friday topping Northwood-Kensett 61-31.  Connor Cerwinske led the Huskies with 16 points.

The Osage Green Devils blasted Central Springs 68-27 for their first win of the season.  The Green Devils used a 30-point second quarter to pull away. Brett Bobinett scored a game-high 21 points. In the win.  The Green Devils made eight three-pointers.

The Rockford Warriors dropped their first game of the year, 63-59 to West Fork Friday.  Max Rooney led Rockford with 14 points. Seven of the eight Warriors scored in the loss.

North Butler is 1-1 on the season after a 74-24 decision to Newman Catholic.  The Bearcats gave up 45 first half points.

Riceville is 0-2 after a 60-17 loss to Don Bosco.
