Single Vehicle Crash Knocks Out Power In New Hampton

New Hampton, Iowa – A crash in Chickasaw County left New Hampton without power Sunday afternoon.

An officer’s report from the Iowa State Patrol says 19-year-old Makinzie Monroe of Decorah fell asleep at the wheel while driving east on county road B54/240th.

Monroe crossed the center line, entered the north ditch, struck an embankment and then a utility pole.  Her 2008 Chevrolet Malibu came to rest on its top after rolling several times.

She was transported to Mercy Medical Center New Hampton.

Her condition is unknown at this time.
