Pirchard takes top Democratic post and cites top priorities for legislative session

Des Moines, Iowa – The Iowa legislative session convenes today and Todd Prichard of Charles City is the only new face in the legislature’s leadership.

As the democratic minority leader, Prichard helps guide the party’s direction.

He says the education and health care are the top two priorities for this year’s session. Budgets are tightening for school districts and it has an impact on student learning.

Prichard says there needs to be a solution to school funding.

He added he hopes Governor Reynolds’s Future Ready Iowa program is more than a name and helps students prepare for the workforce.

Health care is the other top priority and Prichard says the system needs fixing.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
