Icy road conditions to continue tonight, snow expected for the weekend

Charles City, Iowa – The first winter precipitation of 2019 has left roads and sidewalks with a wintry glaze.

Freezing drizzle fell Monday evening into the overnight hours causing slick roadways for commuters Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service said freezing drizzle continued until 8 AM in Northeast Iowa.

According to their Twitter page, another round of freezing drizzle is possible Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Snow is in the forecast for Friday.

The weather forced several area school districts to start school late.
