Meeting notes: Supervisors approve full-time veterans affair director, discuss county roads

New Hampton, Iowa – The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors approved Veteran’s Affairs Director Lindsay Zenner to a full time employee.

At Monday’s meeting the supervisors heard from Commission Chairman David Boss who says he supports the move citing consistent veteran support.  He added some veterans go to other counties for assistance, which is allowed, but if they need financial assistance, they are unable to do so unless it’s the county they reside in.

Zenner will start her 35-hour week on February 1st.  She’ll receive a cost of living increase and benefits.

Other notes:

The council heard from County Engineer Dusty Rolando who says the Chickasaw county snow policy is the same policy.

Brandon Lewis reports.

As a dual county engineer with Floyd county both groups discussed raising his salary.  Rolando is currently being paid six thousand dollars under averages closely related to the size and population of both counties.  After much discussion, both boards agreed on a 2.5 percent increase.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
