High speed chase, fire highlight busy weekend for sheriffs office

Floyd Coutny, Iowa – A high speech chase on Highway 14 started a busy weekend for the Floyd County Sheriff’s office.

Just before 7pm Friday evening, deputies attempted to pull over a vehicle for speeding before it sped off.

Speeds reached 100 miles an hour before the vehicle came to rest in a ditch in the 2100 block of 210th street.

55-year-old Wayne Watson of Iowa City is accused of eluding , operating while intoxicated, driving with a revoked licensed, driving on the wrong side of the road and other traffic violations.

Saturday afternoon, Floyd County deputies and Nora Springs Fire responded to a house fire in the 1200 block of 140th street.  The Sheriff’s office says no injuries were reported.”
