City inches closer to final budget for next fiscal year

Charles City, Iowa – City officials are crunching the numbers for the next fiscal year’s budget.

Charles City Mayor Dean Andrews says they need one more pass at it.

The tax service is the city transit services ran by Circle K Communications.  It’s the first year the city has undertaken the service.  They began routes to Mason City a few weeks ago.

Andrews says the service is easier on the numbers than expected.

He says the city is looking at the general fund which pays police, fire and other services, to see how much can be allocated.   The state caps the general fund at $8.10 per $1,000 dollars of evaluation.

Andrews said the figures haven’t changed since he was on the council.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
