The Score Sheet: Comet bowlers aim for state, key stretch runs ahead for Iowa men, ISU women

Good luck to the Charles City Bowlers today in Waterloo in their sub state districts.

The 18th ranked Iowa State women are in a position that could keep them at home in the first two rounds of the NCAA. The Cyclones were listed as one of the top 16 seeds by the NCAA if the season ended this week. ISU is 18-5 overall and 8-3 in the Big-12 heading into tonight’s game at TCU.

That’s Cyclone coach Bill Fennelly. The top four seeds in each region get to host the opening weekend.

The 21st ranked Iowa Hawkeyes are using the week off to gear up for the stretch run which begins Saturday at Rutgers. The Hawkeyes roared back from a late 15 point deficit to beat Northwestern on Sunday and coach Fran McCaffery feels they way they won the game is a plus.

McCaffery feels the late rally will be a confidence boost.

Junior guard Jordan Bohannon says the Hawkeyes are motivated after missing the NCAA Tournament the past two years.

Bohannon says the Hawkeyes feel good about the position they are in heading down the stretch.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
