Six area wrestlers moved onto the quarterfinals in the 2019 State Wrestling tournament on Thursday, while eight other’s hopes of a medal remain alive.

With a ticket already punched to the Class 1A Joint Qualifying Bowling Tournament, Charles City bowlers are already preparing for the Championship next week.
Charles City Senior Maddie Ross and Freshman Cael Bohlen qualified this week as individuals. While the boys and girls squads qualified for State after registering a District Championship.
During practice on Thursday, Ross says bowling is more of a mental game than anything else.
At sub-state, Ross bowled her way to a score of 419 and Bohlen registered a 462.
Head Coach Dough Bohlen adds that Charles City has a special group of bowlers.
The State Bowling Championship starts at 10 a.m. on Monday at Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo.
