Osage principal arrested for operating while intoxicated

Charles City, Iowa – An Osage middle school principal is on administrative leave after being arrested for operating while intoxicated.

Forty-two-year-old Jay Dean Marley had a BAC of .152, which is twice the legal limit of 0.08.  Court documents say he was driving a 2012 Chevy Malibu on Saturday in Charles City when he was pulled over for a ‘turning violation’ according to the Mason City Globe Gazette.

In a statement to North Iowa News, District Superintendent Barb Schwamman says the school is aware of the charges filed and is ‘following standard procedures.’  Marley will remain on paid administrative leave while the school continues their investigation.

Schwamman expects no disruption of the middle school learning environment, as High School Principal Tim Hejahl will assume 5-12 duties.

If parents have any questions, you’re asked to call or email the school.
