Rockford 60, Turkey Valley 53

Their football matchup gave us 122 combined points.  Their basketball game gave 113 combined points.

Rockford outlast Turkey Valley in the 1A District 4 semifinals.

 

The Warriors only had one field goal in the fourth quarter, but they hit 12 of 21 free throws to keep the Trojans at bay.

Rockford Head Coach Bob Engels called it being in survival mode.

 

Max Rooney led Rockford with 15 and Ethan Leibold had 10 for the Trojans.  Rockford’s leading scorer Jared Marth did not start due to an ankle injury, but came off the bench and finished with 12.

The Warriors will face Janesville who dumped Saint Ansgar 61-28.

 

Matt Muller added 13.  Turkey Valley had eight Trojans in the score book.  Ely Nymer and Eil Reicks both added nine.

In other action:

New Hampton survived and they’ve punched their ticket to the sub state game after upending Crestwood 50-36.  The Chickasaws wills face South Hamilton in Mason City on Saturday.

South Winneshiek ends their season with a 60-58 loss to Dunkerton.  The Warriors end at 13-8.

Iowa State’s Big 12 title hopes were dealt a severe blow with the third home loss of the season.

Baylor had 18 offensive rebounds and out boarded the Cyclones 44-28.

 

Iowa’s luck at the buzzer ran out Tuesday night. Jordan Bohannon and Isaiah Moss both missed potential game winners in the final seconds as the 21st ranked Hawkeyes lost to number 24 Maryland 66-65. Iowa coach Fran McCaffery.
