School to add social worker to help with student needs, resources

Charles City, Iowa -The Charles City Community school district is filling needs of their students by adding a social worker.

The board approved a joint agreement between the district and Waverly-Shell Rock to add a social worker to help alleviate current work load for school counselors.

Superintendent Mike Fisher says they specifically sought a social worker versus a counselor.

The social worker would be at the middle school.

Fisher says data collected from the entire district said those grades are where one is most needed.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
