Alliant Energy proposing utility increases to pay for wind investments

Madison, Wisconsin – Alliant Energy customers could be paying more on their gas and electric bills soon.

A release form the company says a residential home with average usage per month in electricity would rise an additional $20 to $102. For gas rates, it’s a $7 increase to $35.

The proposal is to help offset investments into wind energy and infrastructure with hope of addition savings into the future according to the company.

Alliant projects the wind additions will save customers around $25 million in fuel costs in 2019 and $60 million in 2020.
