New Hampton speech students rise above competition, await Saturday results

New Hampton, Iowa – Some New Hampton students, despite weather setbacks, have rose to the top in their speech performances.

Seventeen students from the New Hampton High School Speech team received division one ratings on Saturday at Waldorf College.

Head Coach Jason Speltz says despite limited practice time, the students found ways to perfect their craft.

Speltz tells North Iowa News students perform in several different categories like improve, public address and poetry.

The students will be waiting for results this Saturday to see if they qualified as an outstanding performer who will participate at UNI for individual all state speech and a potential team title.
