New Hampton man charged with sexual exploitation charges

New Hampton, Iowa – A New Hampton man has been charged with child sexual exploitation offenses.

The charges unsealed in an indictment in US District Court Tuesday say 56-year-old William Rolen has been charged with attempted enticement of a minor and several child pornography charges.

Between February 2018 and March of the same year, Rolen attempted to entice a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity.  The indictment also alleges between 2015 and 2018, Rolen distributed, received, possessed and accessed child pornography according to the United States Attorney’s Office.

Rolen could face a minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life behind bars with a 1.25 million dollar fine, and at least five years to life on supervised release following imprisonment.

He appeared Friday in federal court for a detention hearing and was held without bond.  His trial is set for May 13, 2019.
