Iowa Public Television visits middle school students as part of Catt documentary

Charles City, Iowa – Some Charles City students will be a part of an Iowa Public Television documentary highlighting Carrie Chapman Catt.

Tim Lane, Catt’s great-great nephew shared stories Monday about the local suffrage leader with a handful of middle school students.  Iowa Public Television taped the presentation for a documentary that will be released in 2020 to coincide with the centennial of the passage of the 19th Amendment.

Students who attended had some sort of a connection to Catt.  Some had either researched Catt for National History Day projects, attended an author program acquainted with the Catt’s childhood home or wanted to learn more.

The film crew will return in the spring to tape another portion for the documentary at Catt’s childhood home.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
