Floyd County approves letter to DNR for swine facility

Charles City, Iowa – Floyd County will be home to another swine production building, pending Iowa Department of Natural Resource approval.

The  Board of Supervisors passed a resolution Monday approving a letter recommending the construction of a 2500 head swine building for Knapp Finisher LLC.

Two citizens presented water quality and traffic concerns to the supervisors, but Linda Tjaden says they are aware and responsible for infrastructure.

The county provides free water tests to residents.

The construction would take place near the Mitchell County Line near 110th street at Underwood Avenue.

Supervisor Roy Schwickerath says promoting agriculture in the area is important.

The building site scored high enough on the matrix and will be sent to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for a construction permit.

He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
