Mason City honored for use, education of trees

Mason City, Iowa – Mason City is being recognized for its use of trees.

The city’s commitment to the management and education of public trees has won the 2018 Tree City US Growth Award.

Mason City was one of 16 Iowa communities to qualify for the Tree City USA growth status. The city must provide education, public relations, partnerships, planning, management, tree planting and maintenance, according to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources who selects the top tree promoters.

This is the fourth year Mason City has won the award and the 15th year as a Tree City USA recipient.
