Greene Fire Department receives donation for new gator

Greene, Iowa – Thanks to a $5,000 donation from two local companies, the Greene Fire Department is keeping an invaluable piece of equipment.

Fire Chief Neil Nordmeyer says a lease expired on their gator, which would’ve left his department without one.

Landus Cooperative and Land O’Lakes each donated $2,500.

The gator’s unique because it allows for accessibility on terrain and it’s medically equipped.

The fire department and ambulance service also received an additional $750.  Greene is one 48 fire/rescue crews who received part of the $36,000 donations.

Nordmeyer says the use of the gator is more helpful than being on foot in some areas.

He added community support is a critical piece in making his department successful.
