Rosonke wins MiEnergy Youth Tour, honored with trip to DC

New Hampton, Iowa – Ethan Rosonke’s passion for technology is sending him to the nation’s capitol.

MiEnergy Cooperative of Cresco, tabbed the New Hampton junior has their choice to represent Iowa in the 55th annual Youth Tour.


Rosonke is one of 1,600 students sponsored by electric cooperatives to trek across the country June 14-20.

He was selected after taking a test and interviewing  with MiEnergy representatives.

He tells North Iowa News he takes an interest in their technology.


Rosonke added he wants to attend Iowa State, major in computer sciene and become a programmer.

He’s the son of Allen and Nikki.

He beat out his younger sister Emma who was a finalist.


MiEnergy selected Rachelle Smith of Fort Atkinson as the alternate.  The Youth Tour was inspired in 1957 by then U.S. senator Lyndon Johnson.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
