Minor takes a dip into pond after fleeing from police

Charles City, Iowa – A minor who attempted to steal a car tried to flee from police only to end up in the Elks Pond in Charles City.

Authorities witnessed a juvenile male breaking a car window in the 2100 block of Clark Street at 6:40 Monday evening.  The minor, who was on house arrest, left their residence before running away from officers and ending up in the Elks Pond, according to the Charles City Police Department.

He was charged with third-degree attempted burglary, fourth-degree criminal mischief and interference with official acts.

The minor was referred to the juvenile court authority and send to a facility.
